]]> Well the wait is almost over. The EP is nearing it’s end. It’s been a long few months and a lot of work, but the time is almost upon us. This weekend we will be mixing the tracks for our next EP. Making sure that the guitars will make ears bleed, the drums will be gut busting, the vocals are soaring, and that the bass…..well…..is there I guess. I think we’re all really excited about being involved in the actual mixing process this time around. On the last project our producer liked to mix on his own, and have it come out sounding how he wanted. Rick Barnes, El Toro de Oro as he is known in Latin America, is the complete opposite. He wants all of us present making sure the songs sound how we want them to. Wow, we’re the band, and we’re paying for it, what a concept!  But Rick has been everything we’ve wanted in a producer.  Someone who gets what we’re about, likes it, and is trying to help us be better at what we do.  All in all we are all pretty excited about this disc. We apologize for the wait, but we will not apologize for what you will do when you get your hands on it! The wait will be worth it!

]]> Today marked the end of the vocals for our new ep. It was a great day. I sang, I rocked, I saved a small child from falling in a well, and pretty much just all around laid it down. There were moments of divine inspiration that manifested themselves in some soulful oo’s and aa’s. Some laugh’s, a few cries(josh keep it together), some quoting of Braveheart. Ya know, the usual. ( Speaking of Braveheart, my god. That is some epic stuff. It is my recommendation to anyone needing to get in an alert mindset to accomplish some daunting feat watch Braveheart the night before. Boom. “What the hell does Braveheart have to do with the EP a-hole,” you might be asking? Not a damn thing. I just feel its important that you know where I’m coming from for this ep. Braveheart. Think about it……..Braveheart.)We’re all excited about how the songs are turning out, and can’t wait to get it out! Stay tuned………

]]> Well ladies and gents, The Riot is firing it back up. That’s right. Wake up your neighbors, bring out the booze, and loosen your chastity belts. This year we mean business. We’ve been on a little hiatus over the last month. Some of us had children, some of us delved into voodoo, some of us are just coming out of a serious ether binge. I decided to take my time off and see the world. So I took to the coast and set sail to travel the seas. The Carribean first, then down to South America, up and around to Hawaii, and then on to the Orient.  This is where $hi* gets nuts.  So I jump ship in Hong Kong and I make my way over to Tibet, and I get on as a looper at a course over in the Himalayas.  A looper, you know, a caddy, a looper, a jock. So, I tell them I’m a pro jock, and who do you think they give me? The Dalai Lama, himself. Twelfth son of the Lama. The flowing robes, the grace, bald… striking. So, I’m on the first tee with him. I give him the driver. He hauls off and whacks one – big hitter, the Lama – long, into a ten-thousand foot crevasse, right at the base of this glacier. Do you know what the Lama says? Gunga galunga… gunga, gunga-lagunga. So we finish the eighteenth and he’s gonna stiff me. And I say, “Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know.” And he says, “Oh, uh, there won’t be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness.” So I got that goin’ for me, which is nice.  Now after all of this, you know what kind of mindset I’m bringin to the table this year.  Be ready, The Riot is coming!!!

]]> You never know where you’re going to hear something that triggers an idea for a new song.  The shower, the train/car, etc.  When we played for a group of soldiers home from Iraq a little over a month ago we stayed in a hotel in the exotic Bettendorf, Iowa (hey, at least they have a Hardee’s).  It was in this hotel room that we came up with our first of hopefully many songs to be written “on the road”.  As yours truly was trying to sleep with a room full of bandmates and a couple of friends, I heard a young lady utter the title of this blog.  Only to my half asleep ear I heard the words Sex on Sunday.  Viola!! Thus we arrive at our new song, Sex on Sunday which we will be debuting for all of you who make it to MOBfest at the Elbo Room on June 24th( which I know will be all of you!).  It’s a straight forward rock and roll song, that if you don’t have any tatoo’s or own a motorcycle, will surely send you out the door looking to acquire both! See you on the 24th!!

]]> For those of you loyal members of the riot who have been wondering what we’ve been up to, I can answer that with one word….covers. We have been learning and playing covers for a very special show we’re putting on this Saturday the 24th for a group of army vets. It’s going to be a great time, and it’s been a lot of fun learning these songs. We’re covering the whole board here folks, from MJ to Metallica. Definitely not your everyday riot show. As we’ve been going over these songs we’re learning and hearing a lot of things that we can bring to our music. While the genres and styles of these songs we’re going to play may be different, they all have one thing in common, they’re huge hits. It’s really interesting to find similarities between a Rage Against the Machine song and a Creedance Clearwater Revival song, two bands that sound worlds apart, yet both have written boat loads of hits. Yes, this show is going to be a blast, but I think it really has shown us as a band some things we were starting to discover on our own and were hammered home by the list of covers we’re playing. Riot!

Sound chick was freaking out, door person was freaking out, bartenders were freaking out, and the crowd was loving it! It was total anarchy, and it was all beautiful! We are honored to bring you a rock show that can’t be handled by all establishments. BOOKERS BEWARE, The Riot is coming to burn your building down and leave no one left behind!!
