You all know what it is. I have an ugly face. Perhaps I was born this way, and it is something that I cannot help, but I am ugly. I have tried all sorts of matter of things, but nothing helps, I am ugly and that is all there is.

How ugly am I? You may ask.

I am so ugly, that for Halloween I trick or treat over the phone.

I am so ugly, that my pillow cries at night.

Sorry, but I had to tell someone just how ugly I really am.

Local Music

Hello. Over the weekend, I had a good time. I try to get out as much as I can and see local Chicago bands. I love Chicago bands, and have gotten close with more than a few over the years. Friday, I took my younger brother out to see Rise Against. I’ve been a fan of these guys for some time now, and it was awesome getting to see them. They put on one hell of a show!

Then, Saturday, after a meal of meat fit for a king (or a god) we headed to Double Door to see my good friends in Arma. They (as always) put on a fantastic show. Everytime I see them, they seem to get better and better. All the strange beats swimming through my head left me with a satasfied sleep that night…..
So, next time you are looking for somthing to do, look to Chicago music….It never dissapoints.

Snow Day

Hello,

If you all had not noticed. We in the Chicago area had a bit of snow hit us this week. My street had more than 2 ft of snow until Thursday night. My work was closed on Wednesday, so I, much like many other people, had a SNOW DAY!!! So, what to do? We started walking and for the rest of the day, we walked in the frozen wasteland that is now Chicago. Saw some very cool things, and let the kid in me out a bit. Here is an example…Josh in the Snow

One Bassist to Rule Them All

Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a true JRR Tolkien fan. I am the biggest fan of them all. Which is why I look the way I do. I can speak elfish fluently, and I look very much like a hobbit with my 5’2” frame. My feet are hairy, and I have a very ugly face, with a very ugly beard, which frames the ugliness that is my face. Therefore from now on I will be known as “The One Bassist To Rule Them All”. Years ago, I tried to be a jockey, but I found that at 5’2” I am too short to even do that right. This drove me into a deep depression, and I fueled my body with whatever drugs I could find to stuff into the ugliness of the face of my 5’2” frame. Now I am in a rock band, and being so small at 5’2” I am finally in a place that I can contribute to the world, and someday you will see me performing and maybe just maybe the ugliness that is my face will reach you too.

I am 5’2” and proud of it,

Josh Likes it Heavy!!!

I like heavy. The heavier, the better. Yes, I know, Riot Inside is NOT a Death Metal band. That’s ok, because I love the music that we make and play. But, In my space time, stuck in traffic, or just relaxing, i listen to, but not limited to; Mudvayne(fantastic bassist) American HeadCharge, Killswitch Engage, Trivium, All that Remains, and Creed. So, when a few weeks ago, we decided the we were going to drop our tunings by a half-step, I was all about it.
We normally play in “drop D” for all but 1 song(Sex on Sunday) but now we drop all of the strings by an additional half step…..Why? Well, because we can….But really, it’s to afford Gary some extra room to hit the high notes. It also gives us more balls. Not that we didn’t have any before, because we did. We just now have a mutant 3rd ball.

So, to some it up: Josh Likes it heavy, and “Riot Inside, now with THREE balls!!!!”

The Lowly Bassist

Hi everybody. My name is Josh and I play the bass for Riot Inside. I know what you’re thinking… “You play the bass. Just be glad you have a damn job.” Well that may be true and I may be a lowly bass player with a very ugly face, but I have feelings too (though they don’t matter because of my ugliness). At one point and time I wanted to be a clown in the circus (to cover the ugliness that is my face) and stand in between lions and tigers (whom I look just like). But now here I am in a successful band standing between the two “Gods of Guitar”. Dammit this is not how I planned my life. How can I be as successful as Stefan and Lew. They are both so great and I am so small, my 5’3” height just doesn’t allow me the same impact as the great guitar gods Stefan and Lew. Oh woe is me, woe is me!!! Maybe someday as impossible as it may seem I will be able to raise my ugly ugly face to the world and proclaim my godliness too. But I am a mere ugly baby and I will continue to be so because I am ugly and there is no mercy in the world for someone as ugly as me.

Working Hard

We have a few weeks off from shows and are working hard on new stuff and perfecting the songs we already have. The new songs are coming along great! I like writing in this band so much because none of us really have exactly the same musical tastes, so whatever song we’re working on comes out unique. Plus, for the most part, we each listen to each other and don’t have very many serious disagreements. Keep waiting, you will love the new stuff!

We also have some shows coming up! February 20th we’re playing a breast cancer benefit at Penny Road Pub. Come out and support a cure! We are also back at O’Malleys(now called ‘Tequila Roadhouse’) on the South side February 26th. I’m very excited about this show as we are playing with some VERY SOLID bands! We have Fist to the Sky, Admiral of Black, and one more tba sharing the stage with us!

We have a few more shows being confirmed for the next few months and I’ll let you know about them as soon as they are set.
Until then, RIOT!!!!

This Wednesday(Black Wednesday) Riot Inside will be taking over The Mutiny. On Western, just North of Fullerton, in Chicago. We played there last year and had a blast! Oh, and it’s a FREE SHOW!!!!! Just come on out for cheap beer and fantastic music. Playing with Cutter Lang and Six Day Parade. Show starts at 10pm, Riot headlines at 11:30pm. See you there!!!!

Riot Rocked the Southside

It was good to be back on the Southside last weekend. Riot rocked O’malleys once again and had a blast. The show was kicked off by our new friends in paragon (www.myspace.com/paragon) who did a fantastic job with their reggae infused rock. Tip of the hat goes to them who woke up the crowd and got the show started. Then, the Riot ensued! We had a great set! Then, another new friend, A Friend Called Fire (www.myspace.com/afriendcalledfire) was up. They were awesome, great stage presence and rocking, even did a Zeppelin cover! To close the night were our good friends in Losing Scarlet (www.myspace.com/losingscarlet). Even though they played late, Losing Scarlet kept the attention of the whole place as they closed out a great night of rock on the South side. Thank you to all who came out and to the other bands. See you soon, our next city show is us Headlining Sub-T in Wicker Park on 11-19-09. You won’t want to miss this show!
